McGill’s WWI doctors and nurses: a proud but bitter legacy
The 3rd Canadian General Hospital (McGill) was the first military hospital to be mounted and run by a Faculty of Medicine during WWI. Initiated by McGill’s Dean of Medicine Herbert Stanley Birkett, the hospital accepted its first patients on the French coast in August 1915.
Three McGill projects among 20 bold ideas funded by Grand Challenges Canada
The projects focusing on childhood TB diagnosis, improvement of newborn care and digital health in the developing world will receive seed grants of approximately 100 000 $ to develop and test their innovations.
The McGill University Faculty of Medicine celebrated the 2017 winners of the Maude Abbott, Rosemary Wedderburn Brown and Haile T. Debas Prizes, Dr. Srividya Iyer, Dr. Nicole Li-Jessen and Dr. Robert Carlin respectively.
2017 Steinberg Global Health Postdoctoral Fellowship
Dr. Shaun Cleaver, a postdoctoral researcher in the Faculty of Medicine’s School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, was awarded the fellowship at the recent McGill Global Health Programs Award Night.
The McGill Clinical Innovation Competition (CLIC) and the Dr. Ray Hakim Family Prize for Clinical Innovation in Health Care recognize McGill Faculty members, including learners and graduates, who conceive and develop novel ideas that aim to improve health care.
